There are coincidences, and then there are just plain mind-baffling coincidences.
Take, for example, Smile Empty Soul. The number three seems to appear everywhere for them, in their personal and professional lives. Their band name has three letters. They have three band members. And the list goes on and on.
As vocalist/guitarist Sean Danielson said, “Each band members turned 30 during the process of making the album, and we’ve released an album every three years since we’ve been with this lineup. It’s our third record we’ve released with this lineup. I could on and on and on, since there are so many. We sat down and made a big old list. It was overwhelming.”
The trio’s latest album, 3s, whose title refers to these coincidences, will be released on May 22nd. A lyric video for the song “Afterlife” premiered online recently, and the song is heavier and darker than past Smile Empty Soul tracks. The band is touring nationwide to promote their new music, so fans can expect to hear “Afterlife” and other new songs in concert.
