Red Fang has been quite busy lately.
The band’s second album, 2011′s release Murder the Mountains, has achieved critical acclaim and an international fanbase. The wildly fun music videos “Hank is Dead,” “Wires” (featuring a cameo by comedian Brian Posehn), and “Prehistoric Dog,” all directed by Whitey McConnaughy, have each reached more than half a million views on YouTube.
The heavy metal quartet recently finished a tour in Europe, and will be performing nationwide over the next month before embarking on a European headlining tour.
This Friday, the band wants to give something back to Portland.
In an interview with Redefine Magazine, bassist Aaron Beam said the idea for a benefit show for Grant High School’s art department was sparked after a friend of his, who teaches at Grant, brought the issue of budget cuts to his attention. The concert on Friday will raise money for much-needed basic arts supplies, and also raise awareness about underfunding of the arts at public schools across the country.
A group of Grant High School students who form the metal band Hell’s Parrish will open the show.
